What happened in Bill Cosby's sexual-assault trial

What happened in Bill Cosby's sexual-assault trial”

She hopes to show Constand changed her mind about the date of the alleged 2004 assault after reviewing them.

Leaving his home later, she said she did not initially report the alleged assault out of loyalty to the basketball team she managed, of which Cosby was a trustee. I wasn't able to fight ...

She also said she wanted to stop Cosby but could not. The comedian once dubbed America's Dad could get 10 years in prison if convicted.

Instead, she strove to undermine Constand's credibility by focusing on discrepancies in her statements to police in 2005, when she first reported the incident.

The defense says the relationship with Constand was consensual.

Constand, an athletic 6-footer with dark curly hair, was calm and direct as she testified, frequently speaking straight to the jury. "They're your friends. They'll take the edge off", she quoted him as saying.

Shortly after, Constand remembers feeling "frozen", slurring her words, and experiencing blurred vision.

On Monday, Kelly Johnson, who once worked for the William Morris talent agent that represented Cosby, testified in court that she had been similarly drugged and assaulted by him in 1996.

She told the court she felt "really humiliated" after the alleged attack.

Cosby reportedly hung his head in hands during Constand's testimony, as well as rolled his eyes and shook his head. In January 2004, Constand went to Cosby's house to talk about her career, and about a decision she had been weighing to leave Temple to pursue massage therapy.

Constand is one of around 60 women who have accused Cosby of sexually violating them but the prosecution has gone ahead on just Constand's allegations due to the statute of limitations passing for almost every other of those claims. At the time, Constand was an employee of Temple University athletics, where Cosby served on the Board of Trustees.

Ms Constand said the mood at the time was friendly.

She also explained that she was too afraid to tell anyone about the incident. "Somebody I trusted. A mentor". She testified she let Cosby know she wasn't interested in his advances. "I just wanted to go home".

Cosby's lawyer, Angela Agrusa, focused not on the details of the alleged assault but on other aspects of Constand's narrative, including discrepancies in several police interviews Constand gave in 2005 when she made a decision to report the crime a year later.

"It had more to do with business than it did with me personally", she said.

"Tell the truth", Constand said.

She said she saw a jumble of prescription drug bottles in Cosby's bathroom.

She said she feared speaking out at the time because Cosby was "the biggest celebrity in the world".

WHAT'S NEXT: Defense lawyers will continue their cross-examination of Constand on Wednesday.

Cosby has denied all the charges and is not expected to take the stand. She revealed that they had been in constant touch to discuss about the renovations of several facilities given to the basketball team.

Constand said that, after she took the pills, Cosby led her to the couch and she lost consciousness. And I felt Mr. Cosby's hand groping my breasts under my shirt. She panicked when she tried to move her legs, realizing she couldn't get up.

Her claim is the only one to reach court because the time limits on all the others have run out. "He didn't want that", Sewell said.

Johnson told a similar story about Cosby in 1996, when she gave sworn testimony as part of a workers' compensation claim, lawyer Joseph Miller testified Tuesday.

What's more, Constand's seemingly suggestive behavior toward Cosby was brought into question.

The AP does not typically identify people who say they are sexual assault victims unless they grant permission, which Johnson has done.
