Texas Mom Charged After A 'Lesson' Leads To Death”

Randolph told authorities she was folding laundry inside her house and thought the kids were happily playing outside, only to discover the toddlers almost a half hour later locked inside the auto, along with her keys and cellphone, the outlet reported.

Cynthia Marie Randolph, 24, was being held Saturday on 2 counts of triggering severe physical injury to a child.

The incident happened in late May, when she initially told police the children locked themselves inside the auto.

After all, Randolph said she was only folding laundry while her kids were playing in their sun porch for about half an hour before they went missing. She was arrested following a final interview on Friday when she admitted she locked the auto doors on her children around 12:15 p.m. after the 2-year-old daughter refused to get out, according to the sheriff's office.

After extensive interviews with police, investigators determined that Randolph actually intentionally left the children in the auto to teach young Juliet a lesson.

Randolph allegedly returned around three hours later after having smoked marijuana in her home and found her children unconscious in the vehicle.

Temperatures hovered around 96 degrees that day, reported NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

In 2017 alone, 13 children have died from being locked inside cars and suffering heat stroke, according to San Jose State University professor Jan Null.

The children were pronounced dead shortly after 4:30 p.m. At that point she found her children dead in the auto; she says she broke a window to make it look like an accident.

Her first version of the events was that the children were playing and when she couldn't find them, she searched the property and found them in the vehicle, according to NBC.

Children are still dying in locked, hot cars.

In multiple interviews, officials say Randolph created several variations of the events. Randolph said the door was locked so she broke a window to gain entry. Randolph will go before a judge for a bond hearing and more details will be revealed regarding the charges she'll face.
