Black Gun Owners Not Happy With Jury Clearing Officer In Castile Case”

Members of the Minnesota State Patrol arrest protesters during a gathering on Interstate 94 after a jury found St. Anthony Police Department officer Jeronimo Yanez not guilty of second-degree manslaughter in the death of Philando Castile, at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul, Minnesota, U.S., June 16, 2017.

"As people across our city, state and country react to the jury's verdict, I urge each of us to move forward in a way that is peaceful and respectful of everyone - residents, demonstrators and police officers alike", Coleman said in a statement Friday.

The Star Tribune said those arrested included two reporters for other Minnesota newspapers who were covering the march. In all, 18 people were arrested in a situation that could have been much worse. More than 1,000 people gather that evening at the school where Castile worked, then hundreds walk back to the governor's residence. In light of the officer's clearance, black gun owners are concerned about admitting they are licensed to carry to police officers, reports NBC Washington.

On Friday, a jury chose to acquit the officer who shot Philando Castile on all charges in a decision that shocked many who followed the case.

July 12: Castile's relatives say they will file a lawsuit in his death. Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, began live-streaming on Facebook after the gunshot and many literally watched the man die on social media.

But Ramsey County Attorney John Choi, who filed charges against the officer, declared such fear unreasonable. A Minnesota police officer was cleared Friday in the fatal shooting of Philando Castile, a black motori.

Of some small consolation is the fact that Yanez will be transitioned out of the plice force, according to a statement from the city of St. Anthony. Not surprisingly, many were outraged by the situation.

Protesters outside the state Capitol in St. Paul, Minn., on Friday.

For the case to go before a federal court, there is a higher standard of proof. "Sir, I have to tell you that I do have a firearm on me", he said.

"Yanez sat there and watched every vehicle that came down Larpenteur", she said.

But no video existed of exactly what happened inside the auto.

Valerie Castile spoke about her son outside the courthouse following the verdict.

The jury cleared the policeman of second degree manslaughter and two counts of felony of intentional discharge of a unsafe weapon for endangering the safety of Ms Reynolds and her four-year-old daughter. On Sunday, a group of Minnesotans came together to announce their distrust in a system they say is not fair and does not protect people of color.

Yanez said he acted because he feared for his life and believed Castile was reaching for a gun.
