Boris Johnson stresses loyalty to UK PM May in leaked text - ITV”

Prime Minister Theresa May and her Conservative Party's representation in Parliament fell to 318 MPs - eight seats shy of keeping an outright majority in the Parliament - while Corbyn's Labour Party brought their representation to 262 MPs.

Graham Brady, who chairs the influential 1922 Committee of backbench Conservative lawmakers, said a "self-indulgent" party leadership campaign would only cause more uncertainty.

Joint chiefs of staff Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill formed part of May's small inner circle and were blamed by many Conservatives for the party's lacklustre campaign and unpopular election platform, which alienated older voters with its plan to make them pay more for long-term care.

"It's an issue very close to my heart and one that I wanted categoric assurances from the prime minister on, and I received (them)", said Davidson, who is engaged to be married to her female partner.

After confirming on Friday that her top five ministers, including Chancellor Philip Hammond, would keep their jobs, May was expected to appoint a team that will take on one of the most demanding negotiations in British history.

Explaining her decision yesterday, the PM apologised to Tories who had lost their seats due to her election fiasco and gushed that the DUP were "friends and allies".

If not, the opposition Labour Party would expect to have an opportunity to put forward an alternative Queen's Speech and see if it could win the support of a majority in parliament.

British Prime Minister Theresa May's office says Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party has agreed to support her minority government on an informal basis in Parliament, the Press Association reported late on Saturday.

Speaking to the "Sunday Mirror", Mr Corbyn said: "I can still be prime minister".

Labour deputy leader Tom Watson said Mrs May was personally responsible for the election result, which saw her party fall short of a Commons majority.

May called the election called in a bid to strengthen her mandate ahead of European Union exit talks.

"She's then got to present a programme to parliament".

May has insisted she will not step aside and will instead form a new government that will lead the country through the treacherous currents of the Brexit talks to come.

DUP leader Arlene Foster said "we have made good progress but the discussions continue".

"There's so much more that we can do, so much more that we need to say about the future of the country and we can only do that if we've got our best possible people rallying around our leader and speaking out for those who've elected to change the country". "When it becomes a matter for me is when people try to redefine marriage".

The Conservative-backing Daily Telegraph newspaper had earlier warned: "May must accept that the result is an indictment of the furtive way she does business".

But the wooing of the DUP risks upsetting the political balance in Northern Ireland by aligning London more closely with the pro-British side in the divided province, where a power-sharing government with Irish nationalists is now suspended.

Former Conservative party leaders have warned that any immediate leadership challenge would be too disruptive, but most commentators believe Mrs May can not survive in the long term.

Corbyn drew large crowds to his events, offering voters a promise to build a fairer society through policies such as raising taxes for the richest 5 percent, scrapping university tuition fees and investing 250 billion pounds (US$315 billion) in infrastructure - plans the Conservatives said were uncosted.
