SpaceX Dragon all set for 11th resupply mission to International Space Station

SpaceX Dragon all set for 11th resupply mission to International Space Station”

Eastern. Earlier forecasts predicted a 60 percent chance of acceptable weather, slightly worse than the forecast for the June 1 launch attempt.

If the launch is scrubbed, the next launch opportunity is 5:07 p.m. on Saturday, with NASA TV coverage starting at 4:30 p.m.

The pioneering company, headed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, will attempt to reuse a Dragon spacecraft on an unmanned resupply trip to the International Space Station.

The launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying a Dragon capsule to the International Space Station has been rescheduled to liftoff at 5:07 p.m.

The Spaceflight Now Twitter page, said that the weather is currently a "no go" for the launch but updates continue to come in on the status of the launch.

NASA Television will have live launch coverage starting at at 5:15. Last year, SpaceX launched a total of eight missions before a launch-pad explosion that destroyed a rocket and commercial satellite, grounding the company for several months. The launch will use a new Falcon 9 rocket (rather than a reused one), which will return to earth and land at the Autonomous Spaceport Drone Ship after delivery.

SpaceX signed a 20-year deal for use of the launch pad in 2014. On this week's supply run to the International Space Station, SpaceX will launch a Dragon capsule that's already traveled there.

During its resupply mission, Dragon was to deliver about 2.7 tonnes of cargo, including food and scientific materials for more than 250 experiments on the orbit.

SpaceX does offer a price discount to its commercial customers for buying launches on previously flown Falcon 9s. Pacific time from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Now, the company is set to try to recover another key component of its space hardware-a Dragon cargo spacecraft.

The Dragon was designed in such a way that it could be apt for reuse, however, the CRX contract of SpaceX with NASA required the use of a new Dragon spacecraft for each cargo mission. The spacecraft has undergone significant refurbishment, and has a new heat shield.

If it launches Saturday, the Dragon will rendezvous with the space station Monday, and the station crew will grapple it with the research lab's robotic arm around 10 a.m. EDT (1400 GMT) for berthing to the Harmony module.
