Libraries have Summer Reading Program”

The Richmond Hill and Pembroke Libraries are inviting children to take advantage of their summer vacations and join the fun by registering for the Summer Reading Program "Build a Better World".

Activities will include building birdhouses, learning about ancient creatures and how they moved, a bike rodeo and creation, group games, physical challenges, art projects, science and engineering experiments, and more.

"We're committed to encouraging young people to love reading", Morris said.

The Parents Read Too program allows parents and caregivers who are busy reading to and about their children to participate in their own summer reading program, complete with separate prizes.

The annual Teen Summer Challenge at the Fairfield Public Library kicks off with a pizza party on Thursday, June 15, from 2:50-4:45 p.m., downUNDER at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.

The Free Library of Philadelphia has launched its summer reading program.

Registration week for the reading program is Monday, June 12, through Saturday, June 17, and the program runs from June 19 through July 28. At registration, participants will receive the program guidelines, a reading log and a schedule of events.

The library will be closed the week of June 20 to 24 for maintenance. Programs in Pembroke will be held at 10:30 the Bryan County Elementary School Cafeteria, 250 Payne Drive.

All summer reading programs will come to a close during the Family Summer Reading Finale 11 a.m. -1 p.m. August 8 at Thelma Spencer Park in Rochester Hills.
