Gander Mountain slashing prices; Myrtle Beach location 'going out of business'

Gander Mountain slashing prices; Myrtle Beach location 'going out of business'”

Last week, Camping World bid almost $38 million for the assets of Gander Mountain and Overton's, a boating business in North Carolina.

A store closing banner went up on the Coldwater location earlier this week, and signs in the window advertise 30% off storewide in the liquidation sale.

We have put in a request for more information.

"While we are obligated to assume a minimum of seventeen leases, our designation rights will allow us to operate stores and retain employees at a number to maximize profitability", he said.

Gander Mountain opened its first Duluth-area store in 1993; it moved to its present 65,000-square-foot location at 4275 Haines Road in Hermantown in 2005.

Gander Mountain originally filed for bankruptcy in March.

Sporting goods chain Gander Mountain may be closing all North Texas stores, including the Frisco store that opened last September.

In a conference call to discuss earnings, Camping World Chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis highlighted what he called a barrage of management mistakes from Gander Mountain that he referred to as "stupid".

"Camping World's plan is to ... operate only in retail locations with occupancy costs that we believe support profitable operations ... consistent with our other operating segments", he said.
