PH to hold first 'Record Store Day' on April 22”

Record Store Day launched in the United Kingdom in 2008 and is the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the United Kingdom come together to celebrate their unique culture. Their concept is to link the gap between technology, art and lifestyle.

"It sort of feels like people have come back to us rather than the other way around - for us it never went away", he said.

Gaddy said that in 2013 he had a line of about 20 people outside his store at the beginning of the day.

Embassy Vinyl plans to pack the store with new vinyl releases and eclectic live music from Westpoint, Poison Thorn (a DJ set), Spur, Rest, University Drive, Gold Gauze, Old Charades and Worn. Organized by Mixtape, the after-party will be shifted to Bonobo later, where another listening session and informal discussion on the Vinyl culture around the world with Bjørn Torske, Mathieu Josso, Rahul Chhabria conducted by Kenneth Lobo, followed by performances by Chhabb, M.MAT, Bjørn Torske.

"The first year, it was announced so late that a lot of stores didn't even get in on it", he said.

There's also the second annual Record Store Crawls, a 12-date tour by Warner Music that will escort participants by bus to local record stores.

The day generally revolves around special editions of albums and singles that are shipped out to record stores.

Difazzio said not all the details are being released in an effort to keep most of the day a surprise for fans of vinyl who plan on coming in. Many stores may also choose to hold special events such as live music and food to further make the day a celebration.

"There's something about when those loads of records arrive and we start sorting through them", he says.

Music lovers have their pick of stores to visit on Saturday, and if the mission of Record Store Day is successful, they will experience the unique community aspect of the independent record store. These days, there are combo stores selling comics and records.

BY eight o'clock tomorrow morning there will likely be about 150 people queuing up outside Love Music Glasgow, ready to take their pick from 500 limited releases being distributed for the tenth Record Store Day.

First launched in 2008, RSD has achieved holiday status among audiophiles and everyday music fans alike; its astonishing success over the last decade has seen industry-wide physical sales enjoy consistent year-over-year growth on the day of RSD's observance.

Bay City's only record store, Electric Kitsch, will open at 10am for Record Store Day, April 22.
