Donald Trump blasts Tax return protests he says were paid for”

During the daily press briefing, Eamon Javers, the Washington correspondent for CNBC, asked Spicer if the president would release his tax documents for 2016 "given that we can assume maybe that those are not themselves under audit".

Organizers of New York's "Tax March", one of more than 150 across the country and beyond, want to call attention to Trump's refusal to disclose his tax history, as his White House predecessors have done for more than 40 years, France24 reported.

Mike Pence says during a vice presidential debate with Democratic candidate Tim Kaine that Trump has not "broken his promise" about releasing tax returns.

When you think of April 15 in the United States, usually you think of tax day. Most polls I've seen show somewhere between 55 and 65 percent of people think the president should release at least some of his taxes. It's like during the campaign, remember, when he signed that pledge to support the Republican candidate and then when he thought he wasn't going to win the primary he was saying, "the pledge doesn't apply because they treated me very unfairly". "Now Tax Returns are brought up again?" he tweeted earlier Monday.

"You know, the only one that cares about my tax returns are the reporters".

The president is also promising a major tax overhaul.

And though he and his surrogates have said often that he would release them when the audits were complete, there's no way to independently verify that the audits of his returns from years past are still ongoing.

Trump says this is old news.

'Someone should look into who paid for the small organised rallies yesterday. In the decadeslong history of presidential tax returns, there have been others as well whose tax returns have raised questions.

After observing the last 90 days, it is obvious that if Trump cured cancer tomorrow, the left would riot, and the New York Times, Washington Post and Denver Post headlines would read: "Trump puts 5,000 cancer doctors out of work".

Reverting to the stance the administration has taken on the president's taxes since the billionaire beat Hillary Clinton out for the Oval Office, Spicer said the American people knew what they were getting when they elected him.

The irony, of course, is that Trump is using the exact same argument for why he should, in fact, release his tax returns.

-David Young (IA): "You run for president, you're president, you should release your tax returns".

The public's demand to see Trump's tax returns will not end.
