Gun Store Theft Leads to School Lockdown in Wisconsin

Gun Store Theft Leads to School Lockdown in Wisconsin”

Janesville police Chief David Moore said he should be considered "armed and unsafe".

The Rock County Sheriff's Office says in a statement that the Armageddon Gun Shop was burglarized of a "large quantity" of weapons Tuesday night.

The FBI says they are now offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of Jakubowski. Officials said they are not considering these threats "terroristic" until they know more about Jakubowski's motive.

Joseph Jakubowski, 32, of Janesville, was identified by the Rock County Sheriff's Office as the suspect in a break-in of a gun dealer and theft of guns. They say Jakubowski is a gun-theft suspect who is armed and unsafe.

Jakubowski is believed to have set his vehicle on fire, but authorities said what's more worrying is what the suspect's friend told them.

Several schools in the Janesville area canceled classes for Friday.

'When you look at the document that he wrote, it's really a long laundry list of injustices he believes that the government and society and the upper class have put forth onto the rest of the citizens, ' Spoden said, declining to offer details.

Moore, the police chief, said Jakubowski has had run-ins with local authorities, including one incident in which he tried to disarm an officer.

He said his community is on edge as law enforcement continues its search. Atkinson, Janesville, Lake Mills, Milton and Town of Beloit were placed on soft lockdown Thursday.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office says the vehicle is registered to Jakubowski. The lockdown comes after authorities received word of Jakubowski threatening local schools.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Rock County Sheriff's tip line at 608-755-3100.

"We are doing that as the result of the recommendation of law enforcement", Henning said.

The University of Wisconsin-Rock County and Blackhawk Technical College are also closed. If you see him, do not approach him. "That is a new piece to this investigation".
