Secret Service agent suspended after meeting with prostitute

Secret Service agent suspended after meeting with prostitute”

The representative spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss details of the incident beyond a public statement.

A representative for the Secret Service, in turn, acknowledged the "alleged incident" had taken place with the said off-duty agent.

The suspension comes after police received a call last week from a hotel manager reporting suspicious behavior in a room.

The Secret Service statement continued: "The employee was required to surrender their equipment and was placed on administrative leave".

This latest incident follows a long series of embarrassments for the Secret Service, which removed four senior officials from their posts two years ago after several high-profile security lapses.

The Secret Service previously suffered through a prostitution scandal in 2012 when it was forced to launch an investigation into agents who brought prostitutes into their hotel rooms.

The agent met with the prostitute at a Maryland hotel, CNN reported, citing unnamed law enforcement sources.

According to CNN, the agent was arrested and charged with solicitation. In the wake of that incident, the agency adopted new policies banning the consumption of alcohol 10 hours before employees report to work and limiting consumption to "moderate amounts" during off-duty hours. In the debacle, multiple agents stood accused of inviting local prostitutes into their hotel while waiting for then-President Obama to arrive for the Summit of the Americas. It later emerged that he and another officer also both sent sexually suggestive messages to a female subordinate. A member of his Secret Service entourage is now in trouble for doing something the Pence family definitely frowns upon.
