Derrick Rose's New York Knicks career likely over after another knee injury

Derrick Rose's New York Knicks career likely over after another knee injury”

Off-court legal issues and a sudden, random disappearance threw unexpected wrenches into his season, but Rose was generally productive for the Knicks in 64 games as he averaged 18 points and six assists per night.

Derrick Rose will be a free agent in July, and sources say the recovery time on torn meniscus in his left knee expected to be 6-to-8 weeks.

This time, it's for a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to The Vertical. "Again, the way the season has gone, to have something like that happen towards the end is a bad break for us". Since the 2011-12 season Rose has not averaged more than 20 points per game in a season.

The Knicks also announced Rose will need arthroscopic surgery.

Thus ends a star-crossed season that began with a rape trial and pretty much sucked in a way that only a Knicks season can suck. He first tore his meniscus ten games removed from returning to the Bulls after tearing his ACL in the 2012 NBA Playoffs.

When he's healthy, Rose is a dynamic scorer.

Rose missed his third straight game Sunday against Boston.

This should also quash any talks of re-signing Rose for the Knicks, at least at the level that Rose has been looking for.

Rose, 28, spent his first seven seasons with the Chicago Bulls until he was traded to the New York Knicks following the 2016 season.
