Chance, Bulls, Donate $2M To CPS”

As announced on their Twitter account, the Bulls donated a cool $1 million to the Chicago Public Schools.

Chance The Rapper has been inspiring the world and entertainers after putting his money where his mouth is to support Chicago Public Schools.

"It is my job just as who I am to bring light and attention to public school funding, broken formulas and especially how it affects my hometown where there's 90 per cent minority students", he said at Friday's press event. "As an artist and an after school teacher, I know the arts are essential", Chance said. Last month, he personally donated $1,000,000 to underfunded Chicago schools.

"We all know the IL education system is one of the most underfunded in the nation", the 23-year-old announced on Friday (31Mar17) at a press conference hosted at Paul Robeson High School in the city's South Side neighbourhood.

Asked if he has talked with Gov. Bruce Rauner since their first meeting about CPS funding, Chance said "no" and said "this is a philanthropic effort and a charitable effort".

What this means is that 12 new schools are getting $10,000 each for art programs. The press conference was held at Paul Robeson High School and it will be streamed online. According to Chance, he's raised $2.2 million for Chicago Public Schools thus far, including donations from Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun, comedian Hannibal Buress and local trampoline park Sky Zone. Days later, he announced $10,000 donations to 10 individual CPS schools, and has said SocialWorks will continue donating $10,000 to a CPS school for every additional $100,000 raised for the cash-strapped school district.
