Lance Stephenson is returning to the Pacers

Lance Stephenson is returning to the Pacers”

The Indiana Pacers and shooting guard Lance Stephenson have reportedly agreed to terms on a three-year, $12 million contract.

The Indiana Pacers announced Wednesday they have requested waivers on 6-5 guard Rodney Stuckey. Stephenson, who is coming off stints with the New Orleans Pelicans and Minnesota Timberwolves this season, is expected to return to the place that made him a household name - Indiana. Stephenson, the tenacious, versatile and mercurial combo guard who once flourished in a blue and gold in uniform, is set to make his stunning return to the Pacers later this week and be reunited with George.

The team thinks highly of Stuckey and one source said it wasn't easy for President Larry Bird to cut ties with him.

The 26-year-old Stephenson spent the first four seasons of his career with the Pacers and enjoyed a career year during the 2013-14 campaign.

Stephenson back in IN could work out considering the Pacers need wingmen to help out Jeff Teague, C.J. Miles and Monta Ellis. The Pacers are now No. 7 in the East and if the standings remain the same through the rest of the season, they will face the Cavaliers in the first round. Center Al Jefferson and forward Glenn Robinson III are also out with injuries.

Despite bouncing around so much, Stephenson's play hasn't been awful.

The Pacers drafted Stephens in 2010 and he was a key component in their Eastern Conference finals matchup against LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

Stephenson is most known for bringing energy and antics to the court. He never got to completely fill Stephenson's void, as George was hurt in his first year and the last year of the West-Hibbert era.
