New Orleans Saints have no interest in Johnny Manziel, report says”

"His skill set is unique, he has good feet, can create", Payton said before directly addressing the story that the Saints were considering adding Manziel to the roster: "I think a part of the (news) report insinuated things were moving in that direction".

Payton said the quarterback left a favorable impression on him and offered an evaluation on what he's seen from Manziel on film. I think it was a good step.

"Currently it's my understanding that he hasn't signed his tender", Payton said at the Annual League Meeting on Wednesday.

If he waits until after the draft (April 27-29), one would think that increases the chances he's playing for the Patriots in 2017.

Now, as the Saints prepare for next month's draft, another report is surfacing that the team has no interest in signing Manziel.

Butler, a two-time Super Bowl victor and second-team All-Pro last season, is considered one of the top cornerbacks in the league.

Manziel was indicted on domestic violence charges last May after allegedly assaulting ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley. "I think having five picks in the first 103 picks provides that flexibility as well, where you can certainly move up and move back". "I wasn't involved in the draft process in 2012, the year [Manziel] came out". So, being at the Super Bowl for three days - in the morning we had breakfast, and I wanted to get an idea about this player.

"I hope you see the connection between the city and the team, those things are a lot more important to me; to not get that final piece it takes to reward the fan base, that's where my disappointment is".

The New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots already made one trade this offseason, and another could be on the way.

Coincidentally enough, John DeShazier caught up with Payton on Tuesday to talk about Brandin Cooks, Malcolm Butler, and the Manziel hoopla. "And then just as importantly, weighing in and really discussing each player separate from another player and really looking at, 'Does this guy fit, does he help us, can he help us?'"
