Trump blames everyone but himself for failure of GOP healthcare legislation

In the USA legislature this week, however, it failed him.

Speaker of the House Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis) met with President Trump earlier in the day to inform him there were not enough votes to pass the legislation, handing the President his first major defeat only 70 days into his administration.

The caucus, rooted in the Tea Party movement, said the Affordable Health Care Act (AHCA) did not fulfill the Republican promise to fully repeal and replace ObamaCare.

Steve Bannon, founding member of alt-right platform Breitbart News and current White House chief strategist, is telling the President to keep a "sh*t list" of the GOP House members, who opposed his efforts at passing an Obamacare repeal-and-replace. "I think the one thing we learned this week is that Washington is a lot more broken than President Trump thought that it was".

"There are other parts of our agenda that people have even more agreement on, on what to achieve", Ryan said on Friday. As stated by Sean Spicer, Trump also agreed to repeal all tax increases set in the present health law, and add some additional restrictions to Medicaid payments for low-income people.

"After seven disgusting years of ObamaCare (skyrocketing premiums & deductibles, bad healthcare), this is finally your chance for a great plan!", Mr Trump tweeted in the early hours of Friday morning. "I stand ready to work with the administration and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in order to fix our broken health care system". In the end, Trump made a decision to listen to Ryan and back down.

"There's probably plenty of blame to go around", Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney told NBC's "Meet the Press" before taking a shot at the establishment in the capital.

Unsurprisingly, Speaker Paul Ryan repeatedly told the president that making enemies out of fellow Republicans in the House was not the smartest idea considering that he would need them for other pieces of legislation in the future. "They definitely don't work in a situation with a lot of different stakeholders, where the power is distributed". "Do not worry!" the Republican said on Twitter.

He had spent the week trying to win over 30 or so hardline members of the Freedom Caucus who believed the American Health Care Act did not go far enough in undoing key features of Obamacare.

This unlikely coalition of ideologically and geographically diverse Republican members of Congress is what forced House leaders to pull the bill.

Trump had no public events scheduled for Sunday and held what his staff said were meetings for the second day in a row at Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, Virginia.

Mr Trump campaigned on his skills as a dealmaker.

The CBO score raised a red flag for moderate House and Senate Republicans, causing some to call on House GOP leaders to make changes or scrap the bill and start over.

But the GOP's health care bill was supposed to pave the way for tax reform by cutting expenditures from Obamacare.

Blaming the opposition democrats for the failure, Trump warned that now Obamacare is going to stay, people would see a sudden rise in their insurance premium.

The House of Representatives on Friday pulled what would have been the worst health care plan in American history.
