Everton FC fans will not turn on Lukaku, insists Koeman

The FC panel contemplate Romelu Lukaku's predicament at Everton and debate whether he is superstar material.

If that is back to Chelsea, is he really going to be better off than he is now?

Everton fans will hope that Lukaku is happy to continue breaking records with the club.

"Maybe you can stop him for 85 minutes but when it is 11 against 10, even when it was 11 against 11, if he gets space and if they make the kind of mistake for the fourth goal then he will punish that".

"Then you are talking about Champions League and whatever types of games".

"But I am not so afraid about his situation because the player has more than two years on his contract".

"First of all the deal was not agreed and 99.9 per cent is not 100 per cent and they are still trying to get the contract over the line", Koeman said.

But after the striker's double in Everton's 4-0 win over Hull City on Saturday, Koeman's stance appears to have changed.

The Dutchman also strongly believes that the Belgian hit-man can indeed potentially fulfil his desires and dreams of playing Champions League football at Everton in the near future: "If we can do what we want to do next season, move on and get in who we want, we can battle with them, yes".

Koeman said: "Look at the difference between this season and last - that's the first step". We have the same points now as last season. Not only money is most important but if you show players good player, s the development and ambition of the team, and the club is progressing and talking of new stadium, it is enough to show club is going in the right direction.

Lukaku moved two clear of Tottenham's Harry Kane on 21 goals in the hunt for the Premier League's Golden Boot award with two stoppage-time strikes at Goodison Park, adding to earlier efforts from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Enner Valencia.

The 23-year-old striker has made no secret of his mother's influence on his career, ironically crediting her with his original decision to join Everton three years ago.
