Month-Old Dies While Babysitter Tries To Reach 911

Month-Old Dies While Babysitter Tries To Reach 911”

"There was nothing I could do". This takes time and resources away from assisting other callers who are trying to reach the 911 call center. Alex blames the city and T-Mobile for not getting the issue fixed back in November, but the city says there's no evidence the ghost calls contributed to Brandon's death.

In an exchange with Rawlings at a press conference on Wednesday, Taffet explained he remained on hold while his husband stopped breathing and was hung up on.

Emergency policy dictates that 911 operators respond to every hang up call.

But Taffet and Dallas residents were mostly left in the dark Wednesday.

At this point, officials said that they could not connect the child's death to the T-Mobile "ghost call issue". But they all pledged to get to the bottom of the issue that threatens the most basic public safety tenet: a prompt response to an emergency.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said in a statement that it was "outrageous" T-Mobile had not yet resolved the glitch. Taffet tried again but had to wait 20 minutes for an answer. She said phone records indicate the first call at 5:55 p.m. lasted 51 seconds.

Details surrounding Brandon's death were still murky Wednesday. The woman didn't have a vehicle and called the baby's mother.

Bridget Alex had rushed home from the funeral to drive her son to the hospital, but doctors couldn't save him.

Brandon was transferred to another hospital, where he died without regaining consciousness. What happens is - when a person dials 911, their phone will continue dialing many times, registering as hang-ups.

These so-called "ghost calls" are made to 911 unintentionally by mobile devices on the T-Mobile network, and are unknown to the caller. Company and city officials thought the problem was solved in January, but it flared up again this month. "And so the value of those officers' time should definitely be sought from T-Mobile". The rogue calls clog up the lines for hours at a time. Broadnax said he was pushing his team and T-Mobile "for a quick resolution". The dispatcher then must call back in an attempt to clarify whether the caller has an actual emergency.

Stoddard County 911 dispatchers say sometimes they do receive ghost calls, but luckily their phone line isn't normally backed up. The Dallas Police Department and child protective services are investigating the death of Brandon. T-Mobile needs to step up and fix this problem.

"We need immediate answers, and we need to do everything we can to fix this", Rawlings said. Moreover, no one has been able to figure out what's causing the problem. And through it all he wants the issue resolved so others don't have to go through what he has.

We've reached out to T-Mobile for additional information and will update this post should it arrive. "I'm very disappointed with that". "Definitely last week. But we're looking ahead".
