Honda pins growth hope on WR-V”

Honda Cars India has finally launched the highly anticipated WR-V in India at Rs 7.75 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The sub-four-metre WR-V will compete with Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Creta, among others. The WR-V gets an added electrically operated sunroof in the top-spec model bringing it closer to the Honda City on the features list. The vehicle is positioned as a sporty machine, based on Honda's globally successful Jazz platform. Rear-end design too has been heavily modified with new L-shaped-tail lamps, bumper and tailgate.

WR-V is the company's third utility product for the Indian market, joining the Honda BR-V and CR-V range. It gets 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, unique style cockpit style instrument cluster, fabric upholstery, Multi-Information Display with Tripmeter and Fuel Level Indicator, 7 Step Illumination Control and much more.

The new auto sports a 1,200cc petrol and 1,500cc Diesel engine and the auto will be positioned under the company's BR-V multi-purpose vehicle. The petrol mill is a 1.2-litre i-VTEC that delivers close to 90 horsepower or 110 Nm of torque, and it comes with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Honda WR-V will be placed between the Honda Jazz Hatchback and the Honda City with a starting price of Rs 7.2 lakh for petrol variant. The petrol engine delivers a claimed ARAI fuel efficiency of 17.5 kmpl, while the diesel offers 25.5 kmpl of fuel economy. Based on Honda's most successful platform world-wide, WR-V has the best of Honda technology and design. The company, however, stayed away from introducing an automatic variant of the model. The petrol variant comes with a five-speed manual transmission while the diesel offers a six-speed manual transmission, it said.

The auto comes with various features like satellite linked navigation, smartphone connectivity, dual airbags, anti lock braking system, among others.
