Is Michael K. Williams Playing the Villain in the 'Han Solo' Movie?”

Lucasfilm confirmed the casting news on its official Star Wars website today, but rumors of Williams joining the project first started floating around last week.

Williams will be cast in the untitled Han Solo A Star Wars Story movie.

If you weren't excited for this movie before, you better be now! Ehrenreich is Han Solo, Glover is Lando, and Suotamo is Chewbacca.

"Michael Kenneth Williams is going from his hometown of Brooklyn, New York, to a galaxy far, far away", they revealed.

Williams is best known as the Robin Hood-esque character Omar Little from The Wire, but the actor has carved out a ton of memorable TV and movie roles since then.

We don't know what role Williams or the others will be playing, but we do know that Alden Ehrenreich will be playing Han Solo himself, and Donald Glover is to be Lando Calrissian.

Slated for a May 25, 2018 release, the Han Solo spinoff movie (currently in production) is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) from a screenplay by the father-and-son duo of Lawrence and Jon Kasdan.

The movie will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, Simon Emanuel, and co-produced by Kiri Hart, Susan Towner, and Will Allegra.

Williams recently appeared in the HBO series The Night Of alongside Riz Ahmed. His recent feature credits include Assassin's Creed and Inherent Vice.

The still untitled Han Solo movie is now due to release May 25, 2018.
