Pokemon Go to Add 80 New Pokemon This Week

Some screenshots of Pokemon Go's new update. There will also be Pokemon with gender-specific variations added to Pokemon Go when the update arrives.

Pokemon Go has barely changed since it rocked the world last July.

New Evolutions: There are now more opportunities to evolve your Pokemon in Pokemon Go than ever before.

The creatures come from the Johto region of Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver games that were released for a Nintendo handheld device, Game Boy Color, in 2000.

Some babies from Gen 2 had made their way in the game a while back through an event, but not legitimate Gen 2 Pokemon has been previously available in-game. Two new Berries will also be introduced: the Nanab Berry slows Pokemon movement and the Pinap Berry doubles Candy. Evidently, there's still a hardcore group of players out there who are still addicted and still wandering the streets to pick up Pokemon. The free-to-play game was an instant hit, shortly surpassing the likes of Twitter in terms of daily active users. All you need to do is walk around your city or your neighborhood to catch Pokemon.

Niantic seems to share this point of view, as the company behind the very successful mobile game has very recently confirmed that Gen 2 Pokemon are on their way. With this new update set to release sometime this week, we can only hope that more gameplay mechanics like Trading and Trainer Battles are in the works. Let us know your thoughts in the comments! Trainers will also be able to customize their avatar's appearance with a new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items. Till then, keep checking back for more updates.
