AAA: Tow to Go available this weekend for New Year's party-goers

New Years Day, you can call 1 800 AAA HELP (1-800-222-4357) for a a free tow home of up to 10 miles.

The service will take the driver and their vehicle up to 10 miles to their home, and the one-way trip is free of charge.

AAA offers what it calls the Tipsy Tow program.

You can also call a sober friend, neighbor or family member to see if they can get you home safe, Always designate a sober driver. The service will be available from 6 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. Sunday morning, January 1.

If you're going to be drinking for the holiday, make arrangements to get home.

AAA Arizona's Tipsy Tow service can help get you home on New Year's Eve night if you've been drinking. As little as one drink can impair vision, steering, braking, judgment, and reaction time. You can't put a price tag on a crash that causes an injury or death.

"New Year's Eve is the busiest night of the year for Tow to Go, but it doesn't have to be", said Amy Stracke, Managing Director, Traffic Safety Advocacy for AAA - The Auto Club Group and Executive Director of the ACG Traffic Safety Foundation.

"Just because a doctor prescribes a drug, or you can purchase it over-the-counter doesn't necessarily mean it is safe to use while driving", says Rolayne Fairclough, AAA Utah spokesperson.

AAA Utah offers a wide array of automotive, travel, insurance, DMV, financial services and consumer discounts to more than 183,000 members.
