Katie Taylor stops Kopinska on pro debut

Katie Taylor stops Kopinska on pro debut”

She will make her professional debut when she takes on Poland's Karina Kopinska at the Wembley Arena on 26 November.

"This is going to be a great, great journey, and that was the absolute ideal, flawless performance".

The referee sensibly intervened after 58 seconds of the 3rd round to avoid further punishment for the Pole whose 25th Professional bout that was compared with Taylor's first.

Katie Taylor believes her professional debut represents the first step on a "history making" journey in the sport of boxing. "The tests are only going to get tougher for me from here on". Hearn and his company claim they are seeking to push the five-time amateur world champion as the driving force to raise interest levels in women's pro boxing, and Taylor admitted such welcome backing also brings potentially unwelcome pressure. "I've been training so hard these last couple of months".

Taylor dominated the fight completely against her Polish opponent who was not in the same league as the bray fighter.

Following on from that Manchester date, the six-time European amateur champion looks likely to feature on a March 18 card at New York's Madison Square Garden in support of Gennady Golovkin's anticipated middleweight championship defence. However, she failed to replicate the same at the Rio 2016 Olympics as he lost her opening bout.

"I'll box anyone anywhere in the world, it doesn't bother me".

He obviously sees that Taylor has the potential to really put Women's Boxing on the map and I am most definitely with him on that one.

Taylor is next set to head to Manchester on December 10 as part of the undercard of Anthony Joshua's IBF heavyweight title defense against Eric Molina.

"I am a fresh 30-year-old and I feel I have many, many years left in me, so it was a matter of getting past the disappointment and refocusing on the future".
