Clinton casts her ballot: 'It is the most humbling feeling'

Clinton casts her ballot: 'It is the most humbling feeling'”

The Democratic candidate opened her election night party up to the public, with hundreds lining up on November 7 to score tickets to the November 8 event in New York City.

"I want every person in this hall and everyone across the country who supported Hillary to know that your voices and your enthusiasm means so much to her and to Tim and all of us".

"I hear Trump is supposed to be in town too, so there's definitely going to be a bit of a buzz and things getting changed around a bit", Smith said.

The gracious sentiment was a far cry from Trump's usually heated rhetoric about Clinton.

Casting her ballot at an elementary school near her home in suburban NY on Tuesday morning, Clinton acknowledged the weight of the day, saying: " so many people are counting on the outcome of this election". However, as tonight's unfolding results indicate, Clinton has lost races in several key swing states in which she was slightly favored to win, including Florida and North Carolina. Then Pennsylvania and Wisconsin - both reliably Democratic states - also went to Trump, and The Associated Press called the race for Trump around 2:30 a.m. EST. Before leaving the stage, Obama leaned over to whisper a message in Clinton's ear: "We'll have to make this permanent".

Clinton's stunning loss was certain to open painful soul-searching within the party, which had endured a lengthy primary between Clinton and Vermont Sen. "The mistake we made is that people would ignore that part and just focus on the negative", said Democratic strategist Chris Kofinis, who was not affiliated with the campaign.

Clinton casts her ballot: 'It is the most humbling feeling'

Clinton's campaign director, John Podesta addressed a crowd of Clinton supporters, urging them to head home as the final batch of results is expected to trickle in. On the Sunday before the election, Comey told lawmakers that the bureau had found no evidence in its hurried review of the newly discovered emails to warrant criminal charges against Clinton.

Almost a year into her campaign, she still was searching for a message that would address that anger and present a forward-looking vision for the country.

His message was part of an October WikiLeaks hack that exposed numerous campaign's battles in the crucial final weeks of the campaign.

A number of New York politicians and top campaign surrogates were expected to speak, including New York Gov.

As Clinton was ensconced with a collection of close campaign aides and her family in a suite at the Peninsula New York, a luxury hotel in midtown Manhattan, where she was watching returns and playing with her grandchildren.
