Spy held for passing vital information on Army to Pakistan

Advisor on Foreign Affairs to Prime Minister of Pakistan Sartaj Aziz on Monday said that global community should play its due role to resolve Kashmir issue for durable peace in the world.

Sharif said Kashmir is the "core issue" between India and Pakistan and its resolution would ensure durable peace in the region as he urged the world to take note of alleged human rights violations there, officials said. "The people of Jammu and Kashmir have been active participants in the democratic processes at both the central and state levels", he said.

"How on earth it is possible to isolate a country on terrorism when that country itself is the worst victim of terrorism", he said while speaking at the Indian Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies here.

"We call upon Pakistan to stop inciting and supporting violence and terrorism in any part of India and refrain from meddling in our internal affairs in any matter", Singh said.

Sharif told the UK's National Security Adviser, Sir Mark Lyall Grant, that Pakistan is a peace-loving country and pursues the policy of maintaining friendly relationships with its neighbours, News International reported.

"When Uri attack was underway, Pakistan was being blamed, this when we did not even know what was happening", ANI quoted Basit as saying.

He said that while Indian artistes have never faced any issues performing in Pakistan, but artistes like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam's concerts have been cancelled in India. Hinting at the case of the 26/11 terrorist Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, he said that Pakistan had put people behind bars but they were released by the country's courts.

The Pakistan's high commissioner's statement comes amid increasing global pressure to take action against terrorist groups in its country.

The High Commissioner said that while Pakistan had suggested an global probe into the Uri attack, India wasn't open to the idea.
